While the wider community is enjoying a day with family and friends to celebrate the Queen’s Birthday holiday, there are some of us who are being launded in the Order of Australia awards. Today’s Chisholm & Gamon blog highlights those in our local area who have been given ‘the nod’ for their contributions to our nation.
§ Professor Jeffrey Rosenfeld of Caulfield North was today made a Member of the Order of Australia for his contribution to neurosurgery at Alfred Health. Professor Rosenfeld has also served the community in Papua New Guinea, and has associations with the St John Ambulance. He is also the Surgeon General to the Australian Defence Force.
§ Port Phillip’s Professor Rupert Maclean has been appointed officer of the Order of Australia, acknowledge for his contribution toward improving education in developing countries. He has worked with UNESCO for over 20 years, and has created training models for former Afghani child-soldiers.
§ Port Melbourne’s Beris Campbell has been awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia for her commitment to the local Homeshare program. Beris is a social worker who created Homeshare, which exchanges housing for in-home care, allowing older people to remain at home with assistance.
